Who we are: 

WiNGroup’s research infrastructure comprises a hardware platform, a software platform and a measurement platform. The hardware platform integrates WLAN and WPAN subsystems, several USRP2 devices equipped with RFX2400 and WBX daughterboards, several TI eZ430-RF2500 devices, Sun SPOT sensors, a variety of analog sensors for measuring temperature, distance, humidity and CO2 and RFID TagSense. The software platform consists of QualNet simulator, Linux-based NS2 network simulator, Solaris-based Telelogic Tau SDL Suite and Windows-based MATLAB software. The measurement platform incorporates a signal analyzer Anritsu MS2690A (up to 6GHz) with built-in vector signal generator and several discone antennas covering bands of up to 3GHz.

Main achievements:
  • Participation in numerous international research projects with acquired funding of over 1.000.000 euros for the period 2007-2012
  • Recipients of the "Best Demo Award" at the IEEE DySPAN 2011 conference (Aachen, Germany) for the developed Radio Environmental Mapping (REM) demo utilizing heterogeneous sensors, centralized storage of radio field measurements, spatial interpolation of spectrum occupancy and statistical analysis of spectrum usage
  • Nominated for the "Best Paper Award" at the SimuTOOLS 2010 conference (Malaga, Spain) for the development of a unique simulation platform that integrated SDL and QualNet
  • Recipients of the "Best Demo Award" at the senZations'09 summer school (Ohrid, Macedonia) for developed demo that facilitates smart road monitoring integrating numerous analog and digital sensors
