Serbia has a traditionally strong research and development capacity in ICT domain, and especially related to the borader field of Monitoring and Control. Within the Complex systems area, special emphases can be identified as related to:

  • Intelligent systems - ambient intelligence, machine learning techniques, and agent and multi-agent systems, autonomous and cognitive systems, and robotics
  • ICT for efficient and clean energy – with capacities related to smart grids, smart buildings, energy efficiency, renewable energy and refineries
  • ICT for efficient and clean transport – with capacities related to road traffic management, and real time systems
  • Modeling and model-based engineering - multi-scale and multi-level models and modeling tools for complex problems, with a strong capacity in the medical domain
  • ICT for Food production and habitat preservation – related to monitoring and control of food supply chain, with a strong capacity in the application of the Wireless Sensor Networks technology
